Every Chinese New Year, many people eat Poon Choi and buy New Year flowers, creating a festive atmosphere and good luck. However, after the New Year, the large "Poon Choi Pots" and New Year flowers take up a lot of space at home. This time, we introduce Poon Choi Pot and New Year flower recycling activities, as well as New Year food recycling activities, to share good luck with the underprivileged and bring more blessings to yourself. See the details below!

Poon Choi Basin Recycling | Mil Mill

Mil Mill continues its tradition, and throughout February, it will recycle Poon Choi Pot and send them to kind people for reuse by animal shelters and volunteer animal fosters. At the same time, the stainless steel food separators will be sent to farms to replace CDs to avoid plastic debris contaminating the soil and crops. You can pay attention to the recycling locations of the "Meow Bus Mobile Station" or send them to the factory at 39 Ng Chow South Road, Ping Che, Fanling. Mil Mill may also collect new and used red packets via the Meow Bus.

Poon Choi Pot Recycling | The Green Earth

This year, The Green Earth continues to recycle Poon Choi Pot, transferring the collected Pot to local dog farms and farms for reuse as dog food bowls or for agricultural and cooking activities. Practice waste reduction at the source and work towards zero waste. Remember to clean the Poon Choi Pot thoroughly before recycling.

New Year Food Recycling | Food Grace

"Food Grace" is committed to recycling fresh vegetables and fruits from markets that are about to be discarded and sharing them with people in need. It also organizes Hong Kong's first food rescue and sharing program. The New Year event "Food Grace Citywide" aims to collect surplus New Year food from the public and industry and donate it to grassroots citizens. From now until February 30, citizens can take surplus New Year food, such as basic staples (rice, noodles, oil), and seasonal food, to designated collection points for recycling.

New Year Food Recycling | Food Commons Foundation

The Food Commons Foundation aims to solve the problem of surplus food in society by collecting edible food from markets, retailers, etc., reducing the environmental pollution caused by food waste. This year, the Food Commons Foundation is holding the "Cherish Food to Accumulate Blessings" New Year Food Recycling Campaign, allowing everyone to donate excess New Year food to those in need, avoiding food waste or overeating, and sharing love and the New Year atmosphere with others. As long as the food is brand new, unopened, and has not passed its best before date, it can be donated to designated collection points.

Peach Blossom Recycling | Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department is holding a "Peach Blossom Recycling Program" this year to encourage citizens to recycle peach blossoms after the Chinese New Year through recycling stations such as "Green in the Community." Participants need to remove decorations beforehand to ensure a smooth recycling process. Successful recyclers can not only receive an electronic certificate but also have the opportunity to receive a small gift.

Collection period: February 5 to 13 (the eighth to the sixteenth day of the Chinese New Year)

Collection locations: The central collection station is located at Y PARK and 54 regional collection stations (11 Recycling Stations, 37 Public Refuse Collection Points, 6 Outlying Islands Waste Transfer Stations).

Festive Citrus Donation | Environmental Association

The Environmental Association's Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve has been organizing the "Festive Citrus Donation and Matching Network" program since 2010 to regenerate festive citrus. This year, the program will continue to be held. After matching, the festive citrus will be donated to local farmers or non-profit organizations in need for planting, which can provide food for butterflies. Organizations/companies interested in donating festive citrus can fill out the festive citrus reception form on or before February 10. If local farmers or non-profit organizations are interested in receiving festive citrus, they can also fill out the online festive citrus donation form. After completing the physical form, email it to info@fungyuen.org, fax it to 2690-3438, or mail it to The Environmental Association, Fung Yuen Nature and Culture Education Centre, 150 Fung Yuen Village, Ting Kok Road, Tai Po.
